Kroger trip 3/21/2010

I'll admit, I've been out for a bit longer than I wanted to be. My internet is down, so I'm blogging this from a local McDonald's where my son can play in the playland and I can soak up some beautiful free wi-fi. In the meantime, here's my latest trip to Kroger:

They had a March Into Savings event to get $4 when you buy 8 participating products. I really don't like these deals. I have to keep track of everything each time or else I end up counting wrong. Fortunately this time I was only 1 item over, so I just let it be.

Items on March Into Savings Event:
1-Snyders Pretzels $2.49
3-Lay's Potato Chips $2.79
2-Ronzoni Pasta $1.25
4-2-liter Coke products $1.25
12-DelMonte Tomatoes $1.00
1-Daisy Sour Cream $1.89
1-Kraft cheese $2.17
So, on the above items I got $12 off.

Not on event:
3-Reynolds Slow Cooker Liners $2.49
1-Broccoli $0.99 per bunch
1-Cauliflower $1.88 per head
1-Eggland Eggs $2.69
7-Frank's BOGO hot sauce $1.00 each (manager special)
2-Salsbury Steak meals (bogo) $7.99
3-Hillshire Farm Turkey Lunchmeats (on markdown) $1.39 each
2-I don't remember what this means, but the receipt says MC CH SS L S $0.99
1-Oscar Meyer Bacon $2.99
1-Turkey Drumstick package $3.72
Chicken Thighs $1.99
Pork Ribs $5.29 (this will make at least 2 meals for us)

ALL of the hot sauces were obtained free either with free item coupons or $0.50 off coupons that got doubled. Most of these are going to be donated as my family will never use up 14 bottles of hot sauce. LOL. I can't remember what the rest of the coupons were for, but I'm happy with how I did.

Also, I started joking with the checkout boy. He said they have a special "code" for those ladies that get $100 worth of products and pay only $4. I think he said it was a code 16 which is basically lets the manager know to come to their register and re-check all the coupons to be sure they're all legit. It's a shame they have to do this. They don't trust their customers because they've had too many shots in the feet from them.

  1. Dawn,

Thanks for linking your trip. I can't believe they have a code 16 for coupon shoppers! I am in the Memphis, TN area and have never heard of this in the store that I shop at. Although one Kroger stopped allowing internet coupons all together for a few months. I have made a few cashier friends at my favorite Kroger and they don't have any problem scanning all of my coupons. I would hate to be treated like a criminal when I'm not the one doing anything wrong. Good luck!

  2. Hi there, Natasha! Thanks for stopping by! :) I had to ask the cashier 3x's if that was the truth and he *claimed* it was. He was a teenager, so he might've just been pulling my leg, but I'm not sure any more. One of my local stores warned me they were going to stop taking internet printables. I'm just waiting for the day they call a manager on me for using too many coupons. You bet corporate will be getting a call and there will be a not-too-nice note left with the BBB too!
